‘Rent,” ‘Miss Saigon’ cast members sing ‘Seasons of Love” in backstage bonanza
The cast members of the Manila productions of “Miss Saigon” and “Rent” got together and made theater nerds’ dreams come true!
In Kapuso Soul Balladeer Garrett Bolden’s Instagram post, the artists all hung out backstage to sing and groove to “Seasons of Love,” the iconic song from “Rent.”
It was quite the moment, with everybody clapping their hands, singing their hearts out, and hitting all the high notes.
“That did not just happen!” the Kapuso Soul Balladeer said in his caption.
In a another post, Garrett shared how the “Rent” cast performed a run-through for the cast of “Miss Saigon.”
Along with Kapuso starts Anthony Rosaldo (as Roger Davis) and Thea Astley (as Mimi Marquez), Garrett stars in Rent as Tom Collins.
“Rent” will premiere on April 19 and will run until June 1 at the RCBC Theater Plaza in Makati City. The musical follows a group of young artists struggling to make ends meet in New York City.
They go through their own ups and downs with money, family, relationships, and the struggles of living with HIV/AIDS.
Meanwhile, “Miss Saigon” has started its Manila run in March and will close on May 12 at The Theatre at Solaire in Parañaque City. It follows Kim, a teenage Vietnamese girl who was orphaned and forced to work in the brothel Dreamland before the end of the Vietnam War, and how she fell in love with American G.I. Chris.
It stars Abigail Adriano as Kim, Kiara Dario as Gigi Van Tranh, Seann Miley Moore as the Engineer or “EnginQueer,” Nigel Huckle as Chris, and Laurence Mossman as Thuy.
