PLDT got its act together late in the third set to pull off a sweep victory against Nxled, 25-17, 25-23, 25-22, to gain a share of the top spot in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the PhilSports Arena.
Jessy de Leon delivered the quick attack that sent the High Speed Hitters to a match point, 24-20.
But the Chameleons caught up following an attack error from de Leon while the double block of Camille Victoria and Jaila Atienza denied Savannah Davison as Nxled pulled to within two, 22-24.
Victoria then attacked from the opposite side but it initially went wide. Head coach Takayuki Minowa then challenged the call for a block touch, but it was unsuccessful as PLDT bagged the sweep win.
Davison top-scored PLDT with an impressive triple-double outing of 13 points alongside 10 digs and 10 receptions while middle blockers de Leon and Majoy Baron chipped in 11 and 10 markers apiece.
Ivy Lacsina was the sole player from Nxled that reached double-digit scoring as she poured in 12 points together with seven digs and nine receptions.
PLDT, which was playing without several key players in Mika Reyes, Dell Palomata, Jovy Prado, and Kim Kianna Dy, improved to 2-0 win-loss card while Nxled dropped to 0-2.
