‘Pulang Araw’ stars Epy Quizon, Mikoy Morales meet World War II veteran

“Pulang Araw” cast members Epy Quizon and Mikoy Morales took the time to meet a World War II veteran in preparation for the upcoming Kapuso historical series.

As seen in Nelson Canlas’s report on “24 Oras,” Monday, the two actors visited the home of Tatay Oscar, who fought during the war.

“Medyo nakaka-intimidate pagpasok ng bahay,” Mikoy said. “The fact na nakikita mo lang ‘to sa mga films, sa mga kwento, sa mga libro, to have someone actually tell you how it was to live then, it’s something else.”

“I think its one of the things na hindi mo makukuha anywhere,” he added.

Epy, meanwhile, said they will use the stories they heard to prepare for “Pulang Araw.”

“‘Yung mga kwento samin ni tatay Oscar, in a way puwedeng maging jumping ground ng mga writers para ma-capture namin talaga ‘yung essence ng era na ‘yun na gusto namin ikuwento sa inyo,” he said.

Previously, Sanya Lopez and Ashley Ortega met comfort women in preparation for the series.

Epy recently starred as Zuhl in “Voltes V: Legacy” and picked up several nominations for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in “Firefly.”

Mikoy, meanwhile, starred in “Maging Sino Ka Man” and won the Best Actor in the Cinemalaya last year for his role in “Tether.”

“Pulang Araw” will also star Alden Richards, Barbie Forteza, David Licauco, Angelu De Leon, Rochelle Pangilinan, Aidan Veneracion, and more.
