Several polling stations located within Moscow’s embassies in European capitals on Sunday attracted anti-Putin rallies organised in memory of the late opposition leader Alexei Navalny. The “Midday Against Putin” protests were “a fly in the ointment” for President Vladimir Putin who’s looking to the election to consolidate power, FRANCE 24’s Philip Turle said in an analysis. The protests and acts of vandalism carried out at polling stations will unlikely have any impact but “the image is there and the image is telling another story”, Turle said.
