PLDT overcame a collapse in the third and four sets to eke out a 25-20, 25-12, 23-25, 11-25, 15-13, and deal Choco Mucho its first loss in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.

Savannah Davison led the way as the High Speed Hitters improved to 4-1 while the Flying Titans fell to a similar 4-1 card as no team remained unbeaten in the tournament. Last Saturday, defending champion Creamline also fell to Chery Tiggo in a sweep to absorb its first defeat.

The Filipino-Canadian open hitter poured in 21 points built on 18 attacks and three blocks alongside 16 excellent receptions while Erika Santos chipped in 14 markers.

PLDT’s lifer in the crucial fifth set was Kiesha Bedonia, who ended up producing four points as they survived a comeback from Choco Mucho.

Meanwhile, Cignal made quick work of Strong Group Athletics, 25-7, 25-16, 25-16, to improve to 4-1 while the neophyte squad could not barge into the win column as it dropped to 0-5.

Vanie Gandler led the charge with 16 points while veteran Ces Molina chimed in with 14 markers.
