Steam-driven or phreatic eruptions have been observed on Saturday morning at Taal Volcano in Batangas, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) reported in separate advisories.
The eruptions occurred from 8:50 a.m. to 8:52 a.m., followed by similar activity from 9:09 a.m. to 9:12 a.m., the OCD said.
Residents in Batangas were asked to stay alert and to follow the guidance of authorities regarding Taal’s status.
As of posting time, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has yet to issue an advisory about Taal’s latest phreatic eruptions.
Its last related bulletin, issued midnight of April 20, Saturday, indicated Alert Level 1 for Taal.
