The government is monitoring the situation of the only Filipino remaining in Gaza, a religious nun, amid heavy bombardment by Israel, according to the report of Nimfa Ravelo on Super Radyo DZBB.

According to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the nun opted to stay in Gaza despite the call of the government to Filipino citizens to leave the area for safety reasons.

The DFA said that the Philippine Embassy in Amman, Jordan is in constant communication with the nun.

She is the only remaining Filipino in the area after 14 other Pinoys, the last batch, was escorted out of the site.

A total of 136 Filipinos were evacuated by the government from Gaza and were given financial assistance by the DFA, Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA). — BAP, GMA Integrated News
