The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is investigating an alleged security breach in its official Facebook account.
In a press statement, the PCG said that at around 12:30 p.m. of Friday, an unknown entity had gained access to the agency’s Facebook page.
According to PCG spokesman Rear Admiral Armand Balilo, the Coast Guard Public Affairs (CGPAS) monitored two malicious short videos, which were posted on the PCG page.
The CGPAS is coordinating with the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to conduct backend operations and assess the security breach.
In February, the Facebook page of PCG was also hacked. Three hackers were discovered after the PCG conducted backend operations with the help of the CICC and the agency was able to recover its social media account.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
