Christian Standhardinger erupted for 33 points as Barangay Ginebra regained its winning ways with a 105-86 victory against Blackwater in the PBA Philippine Cup on Friday at the PhilSports Arena.

The veteran big man also added six rebounds, five assists, and one block to help the Gin Kings put an end to their two-game losing slump and improve to 4-3 following twin losses to Terrafirma and San Miguel.

The Bossing, meanwhile, absorbed their fourth straight loss after opening their campaign with three consecutive wins.

The win also saw the conference debut of Scottie Thompson, who missed out the previous games due to a back injury he sustained during the past Commissioner’s Cup. He ended up finishing with four points, seven rebounds, eight assists and two steals.

It was Standhardinger’s basket that gave Ginebra a huge 30-point lead late in the third quarter, 87-57, and they never looked back since then. The penultimate period also witnessed the offensive outburst of Ralph Cu, who dropped four big triples in that stretch to provide the spark.

Cu tallied 14 points while Maverick Ahanmisi and Jamie Malonzo chipped in 14 and 11 markers each.

James Kwekuteye paced Blackwater, collecting 20 points on top of three rebounds, and three assists off the bench while Justin Chua added 17 markers.
