PBA: Juami Tiongson, Javi Gomez de Liaño lead Terrafirma past Ginebra

Juami Tiongson and Javi Gomez de Liaño led Terrafirma past Barangay Ginebra, 91-85, on Sunday in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

This is only the Dyip’s second win against Ginebra in all their 23 meetings in the league.

Tiongson posted 25 points, while De Liaño registered a conference-high of 22 points on top of six boards as Terrafirma improved to 4-3.

Terrafirma was leading 81-69 with less than six minutes left in the final frame before Japeth Aguilar made a personal 6-0 run and cut Ginebra’s deficit to within six. Kemark Cariño answered with a triple, followed by a Tiongson basket to give Terrafirma an 86-75 advantage with 2:43 left. Barangay Ginebra tried to make a late rally but the time was on the Dyip’s favor.

Christian Standhardinger had 21 points and seven rebounds, while Japeth Aguilar had 18 points as Ginebra suffered its second straight loss and went down to 3-3.
