We go to tomato festivals and Griffith Observatory and savor the warm weather
For the past week, Angelenos were enviable as the temperatures felt like summer, and in the San Fernando Valley it will stay in the 80s until Friday.
It’s perfect weather for going outdoors, which is one reason why such big crowds went to the Griffith Observatory on Thursday to welcome the beginning of spring, also known as the vernal equinox when the Earth’s axis is not titled toward or away from the sun. And another popular outdoor event drew a crowd over the weekend for the Tomatomania, a tradition at longtime Tapia Brothers Farm in Encino that boasts 230 varieties of tomatoes.
But mostly, we go outside in our neighborhoods and favorite parks, to walk and bicycle and enjoy the day. The temperatures will drop into the 60s on Saturday.
