St. Patrick’s Day in San Pedro is becoming its own unique melting pot, reflecting the port town’s deep European roots — in this case, Ireland and Italy.
Held in the town’s newly-minted Little Italy district — established in 2018 by former City Councilmember Joe Buscaino whose family came from Italy — the St. Pat’s celebration is now headed up and emceed by L.A. City Councilmember Tim McOsker, of Irish heritage.
San Pedro’s strong Italian heritage now combines with the Irish for what is the new look, sound and taste of St. Patrick’s Day in San Pedro with a cultural mix of ethnic foods, sounds, and spirits.
The festive outdoor gathering was held Saturday, March 15, Sixth and Mesa streets in San Pedro’s historic downtown district near the waterfront where offerings included a beer garden, music and a variety of culinary choices to sample.
As expected, it drew throngs of people ready to celebrate.
