PRA warns vs illegal reclamation activities

THE Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) has issued a public notice regarding illegal or unauthorized reclamation activities across the country.

A statement from the Office of the Chairman emphasized the importance of adhering to environmental and regulatory policies governing reclamation projects.

The PRA warned individuals and entities engaged in unauthorized reclamation that such activities are subject to legal action.

"The PRA remains steadfast in ensuring that all reclamation projects comply with the necessary regulations and standards. Unauthorized reclamation poses risks to the environment, public safety, and the sustainable development of our coastal areas," it said in a statement.

PRA's notice came amid growing concerns over unregulated land reclamation projects, which have sparked debates on environmental impact and compliance with national development policies.

But it assured the public that it remains vigilant in monitoring and addressing violations to uphold the country's long-term urban planning and environmental sustainability goals.
