PCG ship to visit 3 regional neighbors
THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ship BRP Gabriela Silang has begun a series of port visits to Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam, to reinforce regional maritime cooperation and strengthen strategic partnerships with key Southeast Asian allies.
The diplomatic and operational tour coincides with Thailand's assumption of the Asean Coast Guard Forum chairmanship in 2025 through the Thailand Maritime Enforcement Coordinating Center. In Malaysia, the PCG aims to deepen ties with the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, a critical partner in safeguarding regional waters. The stop in Vietnam holds particular significance following the landmark Memorandum of Understanding on Maritime Cooperation between the PCG and the Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG). The visit of the VCG to the Philippines in August 2024 marked a major milestone in bilateral relations. The three-nation port visit will encompass a range of activities, including high-level bilateral meetings, joint maritime exercises such as search and rescue operations, and communication drills, as well as cultural and people-to-people engagements. PCG Commandant Adm. Ronnie Gil Gavan said the port visits were a testament to the Philippines' unwavering commitment to regional stability and cooperation. With Beyoncé's Grammy Wins, Black Women in Country Are Finally Getting Their Due
