Manila senior citizens can start claiming P3K allowance – Lacuna
(UPDATE) MANILA City Mayor Honey Lacuna said Monday that senior citizens can now claim their allowance amounting to P3,000 each for the first quarter of the year through payouts conducted in their respective barangay starting March 10.
Around 200,000 senior citizens in Manila will receive their doubled monthly allowance.
Lacuna assured senior citizens that the claiming of their allowances will be faster and hassle-free.
"We matched the P1,000 monthly rate of the DSWD indigent seniors' pension," Lacuna said.
In October 2024, Lacuna signed an ordinance doubling the monthly allowance of senior citizens from P500 to P1,000. This matches the P1,000 monthly pension provided by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to indigent senior citizens.
Lacuna assured Manileños that this is where their taxes go.
"All these allowances are the beneficiaries' share of the taxes collected and revenues generated by the city," she said.
Lacuna also handed out allowances for 2,217 Universidad De Manila students on March 7 under the city's Social Amelioration Program.
