Car drives into protest skirmish line in Koreatown before getting caught in the Inglewood area
A driver was arrested after allegedly driving through a skirmish line of protesters and police officers in Koreatown, then leading authorities on a dangerous, high-speed freeway chase.
The alleged vehicle attack took place around 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, near Beverly Boulevard and Western Avenue, where police officers were gathered along with protesters engaged in the ongoing demonstration against the Trump administration’s immigration-enforcement raids.
The driver fled from police onto the 110, 105 and 405 freeways, driving over 100 mph at times.
California Highway Patrol officers joined the chase before the vehicle left the freeway and drove on surface streets in the South Bay, driving northbound on Crenshaw Avenue in Torrance before heading into South Los Angeles, with officers racing after.
The vehicle appeared to lose a tire around Eighth Avenue in the Inglewood area, with the driver jumping out of the car and running from police, KTLA5 reported.
Officers caught up to him and arrested the driver at about 11:20 p.m. on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
Three passengers were also taken into custody, according to multiple media reports.
