Airport authority reveals new logo, draws criticisms
IN celebration of its 43rd anniversary, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) on Friday night revealed its new logo.
The airport authority's new logo consists of a Philippine eagle with red and blue wings, a green laurel wreath, a four-ray sun, three stars and curved paths.
According to the MIAA, the Philippine eagle symbolizes its "strong leadership, authority and commitment to safe and efficient airport operations," the wings reflect "flight and connectivity," the green laurel wreath symbolizes the authority's environmental commitments, the sun with four rays represents all four terminals of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), the three stars represent nationwide connectivity and the curved paths signify organized flight paths.
Criticisms
However, the new logo, posted on MIAA's Facebook page, was met with criticisms from netizens, with some saying the previous logo looked better, while some compared it to an interior designing company.
"Ilang milyon ito? Grabe nagpa-contest na lang sana, madaming graphic artist na dekalidad ang gawa (How much was spent on this? The MIAA could have conducted a logo contest. A lot of graphic artists have better ideas)," wrote Rykz Malano.
"The previous logo is even cooler. You don't have to emphasize the logo's critical details. This looks similar to the Unicef logo," wrote Jeff Mendoza.
"That's a logo? It's like you're giving answers to parts of the body to a kinder student," wrote Warhenn Ace Belista.
The new logo was revealed in a ceremony at the MIAA Administration Building in Pasay City.
"The unveiling of our new identity is a significant step in our journey toward becoming a regulatory authority that prioritizes safety, efficiency and innovation," MIAA General Manager Eric Jose Ines said during the event.
"This transformation aligns with our mission to guide and oversee the operations at NAIA while ensuring that the highest standards of aviation are met," he added.
