MP Promotions president Sean Gibbons sees a future world champion in super bantamweight prospect Carl Jammes Martin after seeing the latter compete up close for the first time this past December.

Martin, 24, holds a perfect professional boxing record of 23-0 with 18 knockouts. He signed with top-tier boxing outfit Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) and TGB Promotions, in cooperation with MP Promotions, last year to advance his career.

“He is everything I thought he was. I am more satisfied when I call (PBC owner) Al Haymon and tell him, ‘We got us another one. We got another Filipino champion coming,'” Gibbons said in an exclusive interview.

“It is like how I tell Al Haymon with some of the guys, they have been very well built up in the Philippines, we need to get them two to four fights, bring them to the US, get some good training, and we got a world champion in Martin.”

Martin last saw action against Chaiwat Buatkrathok where he emerged victorious via technical knockout in front of the MP Promotions boss. All his fights were held locally thus far but his US visa is in the works for him to take his act overseas.

According to Gibbons, it will take the young prospect four fights at most to become a world titleholder.

“At the most, four fights. I think we do at least one or two in the states, do a title eliminator, and hopefully the last one a world title,” Gibbons told.
