University of Perpetual Help System DALTA caught a big fish after securing the commitment of Mark Gojo Cruz, who was a huge part of the Junior Altas’ finals run in the NCAA Season 99 juniors basketball tournament.
The 6-foot guard confirmed he is staying with the Altas as he ended his high school career, which saw him win the Rookie of the Year plum and Mythical 5 inclusion.
“Ako po stay po ako, stay ako sa Perpetual,” Gojo Cruz said. (I’ll stay here in Perpetual.)
Gojo Cruz was the third leading scorer for the Junior Altas in the NCAA Season 99 juniors basketball tournament, averaging 13.92 points, 5.46 rebounds, 4.23 assists, and 1.0 steals to help the school reach the finals for the first time in history.
He will now be under the guidance of new Perpetual head coach Olsen Racela and will boost the core led by Christian Pagaran, John Abis, and JP Boral.
“Proud lang ako sa team namin. Hindi lang basta team ‘yung nabuo namin, parang family na rin po kami,” Gojo Cruz added.
(I’m proud of our team. We formed not just a team, but a family as well.)
Unfortunately, they faltered in Game 3 against defending champion Colegio de San Juan de Letran.
Meanwhile, MVP Amiel Acido remains undecided regarding his decisions moving forward as he continues to weigh his options, which include plenty of offers from various NCAA and UAAP schools.
Aside from winning the top plum, the 19-year-old Acido was also included in the Mythical 5 and Defensive Team.
