Marcos wishes Duterte a happy birthday on March 28

BERLIN—President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. wished his predecessor former president Rodrigo Duterte a happy birthday.

Duterte will turn 79 on March 28.

”Well, yes. We will, of course, wish him a happy birthday, and many happy returns. At talaga namang that is, alam mo naman tayong mga Pilipino ginagalang natin ‘yung mga very important occasions na ganiyan,” Marcos said when asked if he had a birthday message for Duterte.

”Like I told you before, that’s a, although there is an official greetings from the Office of the President, there will also be greeting, eh personal ko namang kilala si PRRD. So, like I told you many times before, hindi ako namemersonal. Para sa akin, hindi naman madali, pero nahihiwalay ko ‘yung trabaho at saka ‘yung personal. So, I don’t see a problem there,” he added. 

Duterte earlier branded his successor as a drug addict as he also warned that his successor will have the same fate as his father, late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. 

Marcos, in response, has laughed off the accusation, saying it must be the effect of fentanyl, a drug Duterte has admitted to taking during his term as president. 

Duterte then backtracked on his statements against Marcos. After challenging Marcos to take a drug test last month, Duterte had denied accusing his successor of being into illegal drugs. —NB, GMA Integrated News
