President Ferdinand ”Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte showed friendly behavior toward each other on Friday, despite First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos’ admission that her relationship with the country’s second-highest leader has soured.

At the graduation ceremony of the Philippine National Police Academy in Silang, Cavite, the two leaders were spotted exchanging smiles before Marcos bussed Duterte on the cheek.

Marcos and Duterte, seated next to each other on the stage, were also seen conversing.

Liza Marcos has admitted having ill feelings towards Duterte after the latter’s family made drug accusations against the President.

In an interview with journalist Anthony Taberna on his YouTube channel “Tune in Kay Tunying,” the First Lady said she was hurt when Duterte attended a rally where Marcos was called “bangag” (high on illegal drugs).

In January, Sara’s father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, called Marcos “bangag” during a prayer rally in Davao City to oppose efforts to amend the 1987 Constitution.

The former president had also alleged that Marcos was on the watchlist of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, a claim already denied by PDEA.

The Philippine National Police also said that it has not seen any document or list stating that the President is involved in illegal drugs.

A month later, former president Duterte backtracked on his statements against Marcos and denied accusing the latter of being into illegal drugs.

Neither the President nor the Vice President made any comments regarding the remarks of the First Lady following the PNPA event, according to Jun Veneracion’s report on ”24 Oras” on Friday. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
