A magnitude 5.3 earthquake hit Surigao del Sur on Thursday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.
The earthquake’s epicenter was located at 08.77°N, 127.04°E – 083 km S 78° E of Cagwait.
The tectonic quake occurred at 8:10 a.m. and had a depth of nine kilometers.
The quake was felt at the following intensities:
- Intensity V – Hinatuan, SURIGAO DEL SUR
- Intensity IV – City of Bislig, SURIGAO DEL SUR
Instrumental Intensities:
- Intensity II – City of Bislig, SURIGAO DEL SUR
PHIVOLCS said damage and aftershocks are to be expected from the earthquake. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
