A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck off the coast of Surigao del Sur on Monday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
The quake, which occurred at 5:16 a.m., had its epicenter at 08.13°N, 126.68°E – 031 km N 71° E of the municipality of Lingig.
PHIVOLCS said the earthquake had a depth of 10 km and was tectonic.
Intensity V was felt in Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, while Intensity IV was experienced in the City of Bislig also in the province.
PHIVOLCS said damage may be expected but no aftershocks may occur. —KG, GMA Integrated News
