Liza Soberano is all joy at being able to collaborate with Hollywood breakout star Dolly De Leon for a short film ad.

During the launch of the commercial for the digital banking app Maya, Liza said it was “an absolute dream come true” to collaborate with Dolly.

“I’m still recovering from the fact that I got to act alongside the Dolly De Leon,” she said. “Like, that is so crazy.”

“I actually had the opportunity to work with her in the past, but it just hits so much harder right now for some reason,” she added.

Maya featured Liza and Dolly’s acting chops in the short film alongside fun and unique references to iconic Hollywood films and pop culture.

From Assassin Liza to Kaiju Dolly, the two Filipina actresses creatively addressed their humble beginnings and challenges in show business: Dolly started as a supporting act, while Liza was called ungrateful after venturing out of Philippines showbiz.

“Aside from working with the Dolly De Leon, my favorite part of the ad is being able to portray so many characters in one short film,” Liza said.

She also said working with Dolly taught her to be “hungry to learn and experience more things.”

“I think she’s so fearless,” she said.

In February last year, Liza rebranded herself as an aspiring Hollywood actress. She also co-created a commercial and reintroduced herself to the public as Hope.

A lot has happened since then, with Liza making her debut in Hollywood with “Lisa Frankenstein,” alongside Cole Sprouse and Kathryn Newton.

She has also attended several international functions, including the 2024 Screen Actors Guild, where she got a GLAMbot moment of her own, and the 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, where she served as a presenter.

Meanwhile, Dolly made “herstory” by being the first Filipina nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture for “Triangle of Sadness” in December.

She was also nominated for a BAFTA and attended the Oscars.
