Las Vegas Restaurant Closings to Know About — October 2024

Bazaar Meat. | Bazaar Meat A doughnut shop closes its locations and two breakfast restaurants are out The dining landscape in Las Vegas is ever-changing. Sometimes, casinos pull the plug on decades-old restaurants in a bid to pivot to something new. Other times, restaurants face challenges like the rising cost of dining out or fickle customer expectations. This round-up covers the restaurant closings you may have missed. La Popular CDMX La Popular CDMX at the Palms Casino Resort has closed, leaving the poolside space vacant once again. In June 2023, La Popular took over the space that had previously belonged to Bobby Flay’s Shark, with quesabirria tacos and a bar well-stocked with tequila. The Palms has not yet shared its plans for the again-vacant space. Gäbi Boutique Gäbi Boutique permanently closed both its locations just weeks after reopening with a new menu. The doughnut shop specialized in mochi doughnuts, glazed buns filled with fresh cream, and savory breakfast sandwiches. Over the summer, both doughnut shops temporarily closed to overhaul the menus — replacing the offerings with Korean kkwabaegi twist doughnuts. Sweet varieties included some with blueberry cream cheese or tiramisu. The savory options were more bold — doughnut twists layered with basil cream and tomato slices or coleslaw and chipotle chicken. The company’s original cafe, Gäbi Coffee & Bakery on Spring Mountain Road, remains open. Della’s Kitchen The fast-casual breakfast and lunch restaurant near the Delano lobby will close on October 30. Della’s Kitchen opened along with the Delano, which replaced THEhotel at Mandalay Bay, in 2014. Open at 7 a.m. Saturday through Wednesday, the restaurant serves breakfast and lunch dishes through the early afternoon. MGM Resorts International has not shared what its plans are for a replacement. Avenue Café MGM Grand announced that the midday breakfast and lunch restaurant, Avenue Café, would close permanently on November 17. The cafe has a slightly retro vibe with colorful patterned carpet, high-backed booths, and funky pendant lighting. It’s open daily from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., serving breakfast classics and burgers, sandwiches, and wings. After closing this November, the Avenue Café space will be remodeled for a new restaurant that is anticipated to open this February. Bazaar Meat José Andrés’s ode to all things carnivorous is closing its location at Sahara Las Vegas and will reopen next year at the Palazzo at the Venetian Resort. Bazaar Meat opened at the Sahara in 2014 and has since become a standout for its excellent tasting menus that feature jamón ibérico, flame-frilled steak, and creative approaches to dishes like fritters and foie gras. The new Bazaar Meat at the Palazzo will retain the menu, inventive cocktails, and impressive presentations that the brand is now known for. See restaurant closings from September here.
