Jeremy Pacatiw of Lions Nation MMA showed no sign of ring rust following a first-round submission over Wang Shuo on the undercard of ONE Fight Night 21 on Saturday at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Both fighters threw strikes of their own before getting on the mat where Pacatiw took the back. Upon locking in the Chinese fighter with a body triangle, Pacatiw went for a rear-naked choke to force a tap at the 2:07 mark of round one.
“One of our plans was to strike, not rush, and keep myself composed. That was a chance, coach Eduard told me to take his back and I took it,” Pacatiw said after the fight.
“I was surprised because Wang Shuo is a striker. I was very surprised that he tried to take me down. I want to keep active and I want one of the top five.”
It was Pacatiw’s first fight in more than a year, improving his professional mixed martial arts record to 13-5.
