A foreman was arrested for allegedly killing a construction worker with a backhoe in Tanay, Rizal.
According to a 24 Oras Weekend report by Nico Waje on Sunday, victim Melvin Tica told his daughter that he had an argument with foreman and suspect Domy Floren over work on Friday morning .
“Sabi ko, ‘tay, bakit di kayo pumasok?’ ‘E yung foreman ko sobra na’, kaya po daw di siya umano ng pagpasok,” said the victim’s daughter Mary Grace Tica.
(I asked my dad why he didn’t go to work. He said, “My foreman is too much”.)
Later that day, the victim reportedly headed to the site in Sitio Suyok, Barangay Tandang Kutyo, and had another confrontation with the suspect, who was operating a backhoe, over alleged unpaid dues for previous hauling jobs.
“Dumating si victim si Melvin, na bakit sinisingil pa siya doon sa bayad ng hauling? Doon nag-umpisa yung confrontation nila. Nagalit tong si suspek,” said Tanay Police Officer-in-Charge Police Lieutenant Norman Cas-oy.
(The victim arrived, asking why he was being asked for payment for hauling? That’s when the confrontation began. The suspect became angry.)
The argument ended after the suspect dropped the backhoe bucket on the victim, killing him.
Floren immediately surrendered to Tanay police which placed him in custody for murder.
The suspect said he committed the crime because the victim allegedly threatened him.
“Hindi kasi siya nag-remit sa kaniyang biyahe kasi siya driver, ahente. Sinugod niya ako sa backhoe e. Kung di niya ko sinugod, hindi siya namatay. [Nanakot siya] na hindi ka makauwi ng Antipolo, na hindi mo ako kilala sa Tanay,” Floren said.
(He didn’t remit his trip because he was the driver, the agent. He confronted me in the backhoe. If he didn’t attack me, he wouldn’t have died. [He threatened] that I won’t be able to go home to Antipolo, that I didn’t know who he was in Tanay.)
Tica’s partner denied that the victim had any pending dues.
“Karumal-dumal ang ginawa niya sa tatay ko. Hindi makatao,” added Mary Grace.
