First Lady Liza shows glimpses of newly-refurbished Laperal Mansion in new video

First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos on Sunday showcased the newly restored President’s Guest House: The Laperal Mansion.  

In a wrap-up video uploaded on her social media accounts, the First Lady provided glimpses of the 14-bedroom mansion, which is set to serve as the official presidential guest house for visiting foreign heads of state.

Each of the rooms were named after former Philippine presidents and to pay tribute to the country’s history. She also mentioned that the mansion served as the home of former presidents Corazon Aquino and Fidel Ramos when they were in office.

“We renovated the mansion because we want to offer you a safe, comfortable, and meaningful place for your leader when they visit the Philippines on state official work visits,” Marcos said in her speech. 

“Today, the Laperal Mansion will continue to tell the story of fostering and strengthening friendships amongst nations,” the First Lady added.

On Wednesday, the Marcos administration welcomed members of the Diplomatic Corps to the Goldenberg Mansion and Teus Mansion as part of the government’s effort to strengthen the country’s history and culture.

The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) on Thursday said a guided tour of the country’s most historic homes inside the Malacañang compound was organized for ambassadors who are assigned to the Philippines.

The tour was a showcase of Filipino culture and is part of the ongoing efforts of President Ferdinand ”Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to restore and preserve Philippine heritage sites.

Diplomats at the event were treated to a surprise visit to the newly restored Laperal Mansion, which is considered as the crown jewel of the group of residences.

Located in Arlegui Street adjacent to Malacañang Palace, the elegant European-style mansion features tropical touches and also has three state rooms, named as homage to three figures who are cornerstones of Philippine history: Magellan, MacArthur and Rizal.

Palace officials said the renovated mansion is a collaborative effort that has resulted in “a revival of heritage, a showcase of local talent, and a celebration of foreign diplomacy.”—RF, GMA Integrated News
