A man and his son were nabbed in Antipolo City for the alleged illegal sale of firearms and ammunition in their car repair shop.

According to Emil Sumangil’s exclusive “24 Oras” report on Friday, the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) raided the establishment after receiving information the suspects were selling firearms for P5,000.

Recovered from the shop were 13 firearms and around 220 live rounds of ammunition.

“Ang narekober natin, almost 13 firearms and ammunition na halos nasa 220. Wala silang otorisadong papeles from FEO [firearms and explosives office] na pwede silang mag manufacture, mag-repair o magbenta ng baril,” Police Major Paul Cajipe, Rizal CIDG Provincial Field Unit chief, said.

(We seized around 13 firearms and 220 ammunition. They have no documents from the FEO authorizing the manufacturing, repair, and sale of firearms.)

“Pagka meron kasing mga ganitong iligal na pagawaan, o iligal na bentahan ng baril, ambilis ng access ng community natin. Paano pa kung kriminal ang makakuha ng mga ganitong klase ng baril?” said Cajipe.

(Illegal manufacturing and sale of guns allow easy access. What if a criminal gets a hold of a firearm?)

The suspects, now under police custody, declined to issue a statement when asked for comment.

Security agency manager arrested

Meanwhile, a manager of a security agency in Antipolo was served with a search warrant at his residence after police received complaints from his neighbors.

“Madalas itong manutok ng baril sa lugar niya at madalas na makitaan ng baril. Kaya sa tulong ng mga mamamayan natin na-trace natin ang bahay nito,” said Cajipe.

(He pointed a gun at some people and was frequently seen carrying one. We traced his house with the help of the residents.)

A shotgun and pistol were seized from the suspect, who declined to comment. — Sundy Locus/VBL, GMA Integrated News
