Residents of Caraga, Davao Oriental affected by heavy rains due to the shear line received aid from the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

According to a “24 Oras” report on Friday, residents of Barangay San Pedro have been using a small raft to cross the river after the bridge that connects them to the town was severely damaged.

“Sa Poblacion pa po kasi nanggagaling ‘yung mapagbibilhan po ng pagkain so, as of now po, hindi pa po agad-agad makakatawid. So hindi po lahat ng tao ay maaari pong makatawid,” said Police Major Marcille Manzano, acting police chief of Caraga town.

The residents’ livelihoods were also affected.

“Sobrang hirap. Kapag walang relief, hindi kami makakain,” resident Evelyn Jabagat said.

“Ang daming mga panahon na ganito ang problema namin. Kayo lang ang nakarating dito sa bayan namin, sa barangay namin,” Barangay San Pedro Indigenous People Mandatory Representative Junither Tumangong said.

The GMA Kapuso Foundation also visited Barangay Pichon and delivered goods to the residents.

“Maraming salamat po na dumating kayo dito,” resident Adora Masumpad said.

For those who are interested in helping, the GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit cards, and Lazada.
