Cheesy Breadsticks are irresistible! Chewy, cheesy and so good that they’ll rival your favorite pizza place.
Going out to a pizza place the one thing that is always on the menu besides the pizza itself, are breadsticks. Of course because it’s a pizza place the breadsticks are loaded with cheese.
And they are divine.
AND guess what? You don’t need to go to a pizza place to get them. You can make them easily at home in your own kitchen. With a handful of ingredients and a quick bake in the oven you’ll have cheesy breadsticks that are better than those you can get at your favorite pizza place.
Let’s talk about what you’ll need to make them.
Cheesy Breadsticks Ingredients:
- PIZZA DOUGH: I used my own homemade pizza dough recipe because it’s really easy to make yourself. That being said if you’re short on time, feel free to use a store-bought pizza dough.
- OLIVE OIL: To brush over the dough. This will add flavor and help the dough brown when cooking.
- SALT
- GARLIC: Minced fresh garlic underneath the cheese will add a subtle garlic flavor.
- MOZZARELLA CHEESE: I used sliced mozzarella cheese for this recipe because it creates a blanket of cheese which makes these breadsticks ultra cheesy.
- PARMESAN CHEESE: Use freshly grated parmesan cheese for the best results. It will melt a bit better than the pre-shredded/grated stuff.
- ROSEMARY: It is important to use fresh rosemary (not dried) for this recipe. It will give the best flavor and texture.
Step by Step Photos and Instructions:
- STEP #1: Preheat oven to 430 degrees F. Lightly flour a baking mat or cutting board with flour. Roll pizza dough or use your hands to form a rectangle about 1/3 inch thick. Place on a rimmed baking sheet (or baking stone if you have it)
- STEP #2: Brush dough with olive oil. Sprinkle with salt and minced garlic.
- STEP #3: Layer mozzarella slices on top. They can overlap in places. Sprinkle with Parmesan and rosemary.
- STEP #4: Bake in preheated oven for 12 – 15 minutes. Or until cheese has melted and crust starts to brown. Turn on the broiler for 1 – 2 minutes or until cheese browns. Slice and serve immediately.
Storage and Leftovers:
Like pizza, these breadsticks reheat beautifully and are even good cold! Just keep any leftovers in the refrigerator.
