Residents and motorists in Cavite’s Dasmariñas City complained of a damaged road that caused several break downs.
According to Kapuso Action Man Emil Sumangil’s “24 Oras” report Monday, the Niyugan Road-Paliparan was so heavily damaged and pot-holed that five trucks broke down trying to traverse it.
“Kung titingnan niyo po, napakatindi po ng lubak at napakalalim na po nung sira ng daanan na ‘to. Kapag nangyayari po ‘yun, hindi na po nakakadaan ang mga residente at mga bumabaybay sa lugar na ‘to,” said complainant Mikaela Ramos.
(The damage on the road was severe. Sometimes, residents and motorists cannot pass through.)
“Ang pinaka-kinakatakot po namin is yung aming mga kaligtasan kapag bumabaybay po kami sa lugar na ‘to lalo na darating na naman ang tag-ulan,” she said.
(We fear for our safety while using the road.)
GMA Integrated News sought comment from the Dasmariñas City Engineering Office, and they explained that heavy equipment, trucks, and private vehicles from neighboring towns used the Niyugan Road-Paliparan as an access road.
City Engineer Jerome Menguito also said the first phase of the road’s rehabilitation was completed in 2023 and would continue this year.
While waiting for the rehabilitation to continue, Meguito ordered aggregate materials placed on the damaged road. — Sundy Locus/DVM, GMA Integrated News
