A cat was rescued after it clung to a car door handle to escape the intense floods in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

In a video by the Government of Dubai Media Office, as also reported by GMA Integrated Newsfeed, rescuers fortunately caught sight of the cat, picked it up, and brought it to their boat.

Parts of UAE experienced flooding after the country had its heaviest rainfall in 75 years, when 1.5 years’ worth of rain volume poured in a matter of only a few hours.

The local media said the UAE does not have adequate infrastructure for heavy rains, which it seldom experiences due to its dry climate.

Airports were also damaged by the flooding, leading to delayed flights.

Business operations were also affected.

Oman also experienced heavy flooding, where 19 were killed after three days of incessant rains.

Residents were rescued via helicopter.

Floods have since subsided and clearing operations were conducted for damaged infrastructures.—Jamil Santos/AOL, GMA Integrated News
