Baguio City held its grand street parade and competition on Saturday in celebration of this year’s Panagbenga Festival.

According to the report on “24 Oras Weekend” by GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon’s Jasmin Gabriel Galban, the event was made festive and colorful by the performances of the 13 contingents who took part in the competition.

Thousands of supporters flocked to the Melvin Jones Football Grounds to witness the presentations.

Baguio City, Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, Ilocos Sur, and Kalinga were among those who competed in the open category.

“Mas kakaiba ngayon, nag-level up,” Rowenna Quivite, one of the people who watched the competition, said.

(This year’s performances are at a new level.)

“I like [the one] with sunflowers; I don’t remember the group,” said Jessica Hannekan, a tourist from Germany.

On Sunday, Baguio will hold its grand float parade, featuring 33 floats. — Carby Basina/VBL, GMA Integrated News
