Para taekwondo ace Allain Ganapin became the country’s third representative in the 2024 Paralympic Games after booking his ticket on Sunday.

The 25-year-old Ganapin defeated Sandeep Singh Maan of India during their K44 men’s -80kg clash at the Asian Qualifying Tournament in China to clinch a berth at the quadrennial event and secure back-to-back qualifications in the Paralympics stage.

Ganapin now joined fellow para swimmers Angel Otom and Ernie Gawilan at this year’s Games. Both Otom and Gawilan punched their tickets last month through the minimum qualification standard slot allocation.

Ganapin will now look to bounce back after a botched campaign in the previous Paralympics edition in Tokyo. Back then, Ganapin tested positive for COVID-19 and was forced to withdraw his participation in his event.
