At least 40 individuals in Bacolod City received arm and hand prostheses, including farmer Basilio Vibar.

According to “24 Oras” report Friday, Basilio lost his hand in 2014 when he had an accident with a rice thresher.

“Unang-una, ang damit ko nakaon ng thresher. Tapos, nakain ‘yung kamay ko. Takot, muntik akong mamatay,” he said.

Despite this, Basilio said that it did not hinder him from working for his family.

Along with the prosthesis from the LN-4 Foundation, which has long been a partner of the GMA Kapuso Foundation, Basilio also received grocery packs, pants, and shoes from GMA Kapuso Foundation.

“Masayang-masaya ako sa binigay niyo sa akin,” Basilio said.

Aside from Basilio, a father and son also received their new prostheses.

The father, Juvy Nietes, lost his hand in 1996 after an accident with a rice thresher, while his son, Jorge, lost his hand in 2021 after his hand was caught in a meat grinder.

“Masakit talaga. Mahirap. Pagsubok na siguro ng Ginoo, pero okay lang, tanggapin. Sabihan ko siya, sabi ko, ‘‘Wag kang mag-alala kasi darating din ang araw na makakaahon ka rin,’” Juvy said.

“This prosthetic hand, it gives them hope na sila ay makakapagtrabaho ulit. It might not be the same job that they did before but they can do something else. There’s life after amputation,” LN-4 Foundation Ambassador Grace Cabato said.

“Maraming salamat po at natulungan po kaming lahat,” Jorge said.
