The presence of three persons who are not reportedly from Barangay Bulasa, Argao town, Cebu Province alerted residents.
The three men were observed to have pushed a motorcycle without putting the light on to a hilly portion of Sitio Tiposo in Barangay Bulasa after they emerged from the thickets.
The residents reported the sighting immediately to barangay tanods (village watchmen), who responded along with Councilman Wilmar Cambarijan, chairperson of the barangay council’s Peace and Order Committee.
They looked for the men in the area where they were first sighted.
It took 30 minutes to track down the motorcycle and the men. Cambarijan and the barangay tanods noticed reportedly of lumination from what was believed to be a flashlight. They noticed of three persons in the area. They yelled reportedly at the men, directing them to come down.
It was learned that the men gathered orb weaver spiders referred to locally as “damang.” This variety of spiders is either sold or used in spider derbies or spider fights that collect bets.
It was also confirmed that the men are not from Bulasa but from Barangay Saksak in the adjacent town of Dalaguete, southern Cebu.
Cambarijan said they are alert on reports of the presence of suspicious persons in the area after the alleged knocking at doors of persons at night went viral. He clarified though that they have not chanced upon any person coming in the night, knocking at residents’ doors. —GMA Regional TV
