VP Sara says complaint vs brother a 'political attack'
(UPDATE) VICE President Sara Duterte believes that the complaint filed against her brother, Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte, was a political attack by the Marcos Jr. administration against her family.
"Every time nagkakaroon sila ng issue, malaking issue na kabalbalan na ginagawa nila, ang kanilang pang-cover sa mga issue na ito ay atakihin 'yung kalaban nila sa pulitika (Every time they face an issue, they cover it up by attacking their political enemies)," she said in an interview in Zamboanga City on Saturday.
"Wala namang ibang ginawa ang administrasyon na ito kundi pamumulitika lang at paninira sa mga kalaban nila sa pulitika (This administration has done nothing but play politics and smear political enemies)," Duterte added.
Businessman Kristone John Patria filed the complaint over the alleged assault he suffered at the hand of Representative Duterte before the Department of Justice's National Prosecution Service. The incident reportedly happened in February at a bar in Davao City.
Asked if she regretted forming an alliance with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in the 2022 elections, she replied in the negative.
"No, because I am vice president right now. So I do not regret anything. I am able to help a lot of people. I'm able to help people nationwide because my office is a national office," she said.
"On that note, I am thankful. I am thankful that the 2022 elections happened and that I became vice president," she said.
