Santa Monica man arrested, accused of making false bomb threats to the Coachella festival
CATHEDRAL CITY — A 40-year-old man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of placing false bomb threats to the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival.
Around 10:40 a.m. Saturday, Cathedral City Police Officers responded to reports of a suspicious man at Agua Caliente Casino, at 68960 East Palm Canyon Drive in Cathedral City, according to the department.
Casino security informed police that a man driving a Tesla said he would be responsible for a bombing at the festival, the CCPD reported.
Police looked up the vehicle details and identified the owner as Davis Darvish, a resident of Santa Monica.
Personnel at the festival and local law enforcement were notified of the threat, and were on the look out for Darvish and his vehicle.
Around noon, Palm Springs Police Officers located Darvish’s vehicle in Palm Springs and detained him. Upon searching his vehicle, no weapons, explosives or bomb-making materials were found, according to the CCPD.
Darvish was booked into custody on $1 million bail at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio.
CCPD Detectives were also investigating his activities prior to his contact with Agua Caliente Casino security.
