Police's findings on Que slay questioned
THE Movement for Restoration of Peace and Order (MRPO), a Chinese-Filipino organization, on Wednesday questioned the findings of the Philippine National Police (PNP) that the son of slain businessman Anson Que was the mastermind behind his death.
The MRPO alleged that the confession of suspect David Tan Liao, whom the group described as a notorious criminal, was the sole basis of the police in implicating Que's son, Alvin, in the case.
The group chided the media for publishing Liao's confession without verification.
MRPO founding chairman Teresita Ang See warned the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group that Liao could change his story after the arrest of Que's son-in-law, Pan Zeliang, on April 21.
"Where is the investigation that corroborates Liao's claim? Are there people who affirm this single statement? Where is the physical and/or digital evidence that supports the claim that the son is involved?" The MRPO said in a statement.
The MRPO added that despite their legal counsel's opposition, Alvin Que and his wife submitted themselves to the investigation conducted by LtGen. Edgardo Okubo, PNP chief of directorial staff.
"The preliminary investigation revealed no derogatory information. Yes, the result is preliminary but it already counters and does not support the initial statement made by Liao," the group said.
On April 9, the remains of Que and his driver, Armanie Pabillo, were found dumped along Sitio Odiongan, in the village of Macabud, Rodriguez, Rizal.
