PH joins Mobile World Congress
THE Philippines' participation in the 2025 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Spain underscored the country's growing influence in the global digital economy, the Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Barcelona said.
Over 60 top executives from the Philippines' telecommunications and technology sectors participated in the MWC 2025, the consulate said.
Consul General Maria Theresa Lazaro welcomed industry leaders from Converge, DITO, Globe, Smart, PLDT, AWS, Radius, Novare, and Ernst & Young Philippines, among others ahead of the MWC.
The MWC "provided a platform for networking and collaboration, reinforcing the country's position as a dynamic player in the global digital landscape," the PCG posted on Facebook.
The event "emphasized the significance of public and private sector cooperation in elevating the Philippines' role in the international technology arena," it added.
The Philippine delegation engaged with international partners to explore new opportunities and technologies, the PCG said.
"The Philippines is home to a thriving digital economy and an innovative telecom industry," Lazaro said.
"We want to bring the Philippines to the world stage, and strong collaboration between the government and private sector is the key to making this happen," she added.
Representing the Department of Trade and Industry was the Philippine Trade and Investment Center Madrid (DTI-PTIC), and Commercial Counselor and Head Althea Antonio, who highlighted the government's commitment to fostering investment and innovation in the sector.
The three-day MWC 2025 began on March 3, showcasing the latest advancements in telecommunications and digital transformation.
MWC is attended primarily by device manufacturers, network equipment providers, and representatives of wireless carriers.
Its annual attendance is generally around 100,000 people, while mobile phone manufacturers often use the conference to unveil upcoming devices.
