Go pulls away in latest senatorial survey
WITH just days left before the May 2025 elections, Sen. Bong Go has pulled further ahead in the senatorial race with a voter preference of 62.8 percent, strengthening his nationwide appeal and leaving rivals scrambling to close the gap.
According to the final pre-election survey conducted by research firm Tangere, Go notched a three-point jump in voter preference, securing dominant rankings across all 17 regions in the country.
Go's continued rise comes as a blow to other front-runners like ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo, who, despite strong numbers in Northern and Central Luzon and Metro Manila, trails significantly at 54.2 percent.
Senator Ronald Dela Rosa — another Duterte ally — secured the third spot with 48.0 percent support, buoyed by strong backing from Northern Mindanao and Caraga.
The so-called "Duter-Ten," a cluster of candidates aligned with former president Rodrigo Duterte, saw varying fortunes.
Sagip Rep. Rodante Marcoleta surged 8 percentage points to land between ranks 11 and 18, while actor Philip Salvador, once a box-office icon and now a political aspirant, cracked the top 20 with a 3-point gain.
The administration's coalition, Alyansa, showcased electoral strength with 10 of its endorsed candidates — including guest bet Camille Villar — occupying spots in the top 12.
Veteran lawmaker Vicente Sotto III emerged as a formidable figure once again, tied at fourth to fifth with 46.5 percent.
Sens. Pia Cayetano, Bong Revilla, Lito Lapid, and former Interior secretary Benhur Abalos formed a tight cluster in the 6th to 10th range, each scoring above 40 percent.
Former presidential contender and senator Panfilo Lacson, Sen. Francis Tolentino, and former senator Manny Pacquiao were locked in a statistical tie just outside the top 10.
Makati Mayor Abby Binay and Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar rounded out the Alyansa slate in the 11-18 band, reinforcing the coalition's wide appeal.
Adding drama to the race is media personality Ben Tulfo — Erwin Tulfo's brother — who secured 46.2 percent voter preference, tying for 4th-5th. His media-fueled popularity continues to resonate across Metro Manila, the Visayas and Mindanao.
Meanwhile, former senator Bam Aquino is still in the hunt with 34.9 percent, and Sen.Imee Marcos remains in contention at 32.5 percent.
Tangere's non-commissioned mobile-based survey ran from April 29 to May 3 and sampled 2,400 respondents nationwide.
With a margin of error of ±1.96 percent and a 95 percent confidence level, the survey used a stratified random sampling method to mirror the national voter profile.
