DWP restores safe drinking water to 2,000 properties in Palisades

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power has restored safe drinking water to about 2,000 residential and commercial customers in Pacific Palisades after last month’s wildfire, Mayor Karen Bass announced on Tuesday, Feb. 25.

“Our priority continues to be making sure recovery in the Palisades is as rapid and safe as possible, and this progress exemplifies that,” Bass said in a statement. “In addition to flushing the system, LADWP crews continue to be hard at work testing the water to make sure it’s safe, and they will stay at it until every customer is restored.”

The mayor said power has been restored to most homes and businesses in the Palisades that are able to safely receive it, and crews continue to complete more complex temporary repairs, connecting individual customers to circuits that have been restored.

Customers who had power restored to their properties are located in 90402 and 90272 ZIP codes, east of Temescal Canyon Road and south of Bestor Boulevard.

“As we mark this tremendous progress, we remain committed to continue working every day to restore water quality to all residents in Pacific Palisades and adjacent affected areas,” LADWP CEO and Chief Janisse Quinones said in a statement.

The utility is notifying customers in service zones 529 and 310 of the cancellation of “Do Not Drink” notices via email, door-to-door notification, pre-recorded phone messages, local signage, social media channels and online resources.

Information will offer guidance for customers on how to flush water pipes to clear residual water from pipes connecting their homes and businesses to their water meters.

“Do Not Drink” notices remain in effect for the ZIP code 90272 and the following zones: 330, 375, 498, 720, 1137, 1345 and 1645.
