Driver flees with children near LAX after single-vehicle crash, leaving injured passengers
A child was seriously injured in a single-vehicle hit-and-run crash in a median early Tuesday morning in the Westchester area near Los Angeles International Airport.
The vehicle hit a median around 1:50 a.m. Tuesday at or near the intersection of South Sepulveda Boulevard and 96th Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The driver, described only as a woman, fled the scene, taking four children with her and leaving two adults in the vehicle, a department public information officer said.
The two adults had minor injuries, and one was taken to a hospital.
The children were eventually located, and one of them had a serious injury. All four were taken to a hospital, according to the LAPD.
The woman remained at large Tuesday morning.
The police investigation into the suspected felony hit-and-run prompted lane closures on Sepulveda, snarling traffic in the area just north of LAX.
