Driver doing ‘burnouts’ plows into crowd outside SoFi Stadium
Several people were injured when a vehicle plowed into a crowd of pedestrians near SoFi Stadium on Saturday.
The crash took place around 10:20 p.m. in the 4000 block of Century Boulevard. Witnesses told KTLA5 that someone driving a Dodge Charger was doing a “burnout” to impress onlookers when he lost control of the vehicle and it went into the crowd.
In total, eight victims were hospitalized. Among those injured were one man and three women along with four children, including two 12-year-olds, a 10-year-old, and a 14-year-old, according to Inglewood Police Lt. Islas.
Injuries ranged from head trauma to complaints of body pain, with at least two people described as critically injured, she added.
The crash occurred as fans were leaving the CONCACAF Gold Cup match between Mexico and the Dominican Republic at SoFi Stadium.
The driver, who was slightly injured, reportedly stayed at the scene to cooperate with police.
