Dizon inspects MRT-3, joins commuters
(UPDATE) TRANSPORTATION Secretary Vince Dizon joined MRT-3 riders on Monday to see for himself the condition of the trains and stations, and get the feedback of passengers on how to improve services.
Dizon visited several MRT stations, including Taft, Ayala and Shaw Boulevard, where he spoke with commuters about their experiences and suggestions for service enhancements.
Recognizing the urgent need for improvements, he assured the public that the Department of Transportation (DOTr) is prioritizing several key upgrades.
These include expediting passenger queues, ensuring smoother entry and exit at stations, repainting worn-out markings, and repairing defective turnstiles to ease congestion.
Dizon also vowed to install better lighting in dimly lit areas of the stations and to construct covered walkways to provide seamless connections between MRT stations and nearby transport hubs, such as bus and jeepney terminals.
"These improvements are crucial for passenger safety and convenience. We are working to ensure a better and more efficient experience for MRT-3 commuters," he said.
