Dela Rosa welcomes Sara endorsement
SEN. Ronald Dela Rosa is confident that Vice President Sara Duterte's endorsement would boost their chances in next month's elections.
The reelectionist senator on Sunday said with the vice president's high trust rating, her supporters would heed her endorsement.
"This is a big boost to our chances of winning," Dela Rosa said in a statement in Filipino.
Pulse Asia's March survey showed Duterte's approval and trust rating rose from 52 percent to 59 percent, while her disapproval rating dropped from 26 percent to 16 percent.
Her trust rating also improved, from 53 percent in February to 61 percent in March.
"We know that out of all the national leaders, she has the highest trust rating. That means she has many followers," Dela Rosa said.
The vice president recently called for a bloc vote for the candidates endorsed by her father, which include Dela Rosa, Sen. Bong Go, lawyers Jimmy Bondoc, Jayvee Hinlo and Raul Lambino, actor Philip Salvador, and guest candidates Sagip Party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, lawyer Vic Rodriguez, and Doctor Erik Mata.
"Bloc voting is the key. One common vote. One direction. One goal. Continue what President Duterte had started," she said.
Dela Rosa said that despite challenges in his campaign, he has been "comfortably placed" in the Magic 12, or candidates with the biggest chance of winning.
"I feel happy. Despite the fact that my campaign strategy is guerrilla style, yet the numbers are rising, the numbers are increasing," he said.
Dela Rosa also won the support of fellow Sens. Juan Miguel Zubiri and Joseph Victor Ejercito.
"An endorsement from the truest of friends and riding buddy. Thank you, Sen. JV Ejercito," Dela Rosa wrote on Facebook, sharing their photo during a recent gathering.
Dela Rosa is running under the banner of PDP-Laban, a political party chaired by the former president.
The former Philippine National Police chief vowed to continue fighting illegal drugs, criminality, and corruption should he be reelected.
