The city of Pasadena this week announced that Director of Finance Matthew Hawkesworth has been appointed assistant city manager.
Hawkesworth has served in the finance role for the last 10 years and has nearly three decades of experience in municipal finance, operations and executive leadership. Prior to Pasadena, Hawkesworth worked for the cities of Rosemead, Claremont and El Monte.
“Matt Hawkesworth is an exceptional public servant and brings a depth of knowledge, leadership, and dedication that is invaluable to our executive team,” City Manager Miguel Márquez said in a statement. “His integrity, professionalism, and vision will help lead Pasadena into its next chapter.”
Since February 2024 Hawkesworth had been filling the role of acting assistant city manager along with being director of finance. He will continue in the director role until a new appointment is made, according to the city.
Hawkesworth has a bachelor of arts in social science from the University of La Verne and has completed training through the Government Finance Officers Association, the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers and the Claremont Leadership Academy.
