Burbank PE teacher arrested on suspicion of lewd acts with student
A gym teacher at a private school in Burbank was in custody Friday for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Dimitri Altobar, 33, of Burbank was arrested Wednesday following a weeks-long investigation, according to the Burbank Police Department.
Police said the inappropriate conduct occurred while Altobar was working as a physical education teacher at St. Francis Xavier School, which placed him on administrative leave.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed five counts of committing lewd acts with a child under 14 against Altobar.
He was booked into the Burbank Police Department and transferred to the Men’s Central Jail, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s inmate records.
His bail was set at $100,000, and he was scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, police said.
The investigation was continuing, and Burbank police asked anyone with information to call 818-238-3210.
