MANILA, Philippines — The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration has warned overseas Filipino workers against scammers illegally collecting OWWA membership fees.
These scammers pose as deputized collecting officers, OWWA said in an advisory.
The agency also warned OFWs against scammers who offer the service of collecting membership fees through fake apps.
Based on OWWA’s investigation, these scammers have been illegally collecting OWWA membership fees and issuing fake receipts since 2023.
OWWA reminded OFWs to pay membership fees directly to the agency’s different regional offices or through its mobile app.
